Gundog Training
Gundog training is the core of Adhara Dog Training. As an Accredited Pet Gundog Instructor, I offer structured training for both working and pet gundogs.
Training focuses on building reliable gundog skills while promoting control, confidence, and enjoyment for both dog and handler. Whether the aim is working in the shooting field or simply giving your pet gundog a positive outlet for its natural instincts, training is suitable for gundog breeds and gundog crossbreeds alike.
Training is available through:

1:1 Private Lessons – Each session is tailored to your dog’s individual needs, providing focused attention to achieve your specific training goals. Sessions last for approx. 45 minutes.

Group classes - Offering five structured levels, from The Beginner Pet Gundog through to The Working Pet Gundog. All classes are accredited and follow the structured syllabus from The Pet Gundog series of books by Lez Graham, MA. Should clients wish to take part, there is the option to undertake The Pet Gundog Certificate at each level.
Puppy Training
My puppy training focuses on giving dogs the best possible start, building confidence, good habits, and a strong bond between puppy and owner. Sessions cover essential foundation skills, including engagement, recall, lead walking, calm behaviour, and appropriate socialisation, helping puppies grow into well-balanced, trainable adults.
I also provide the confidence and knowledge to guide you through early development, offering practical advice on routines, toilet training, managing puppy biting, and navigating adolescence
Puppy training is suitable for all breeds is offered in several formats:

Group puppy classes - Sessions are held in real-life outdoor environments, covering essential foundation skills. Group sizes are limited to a maximum of six puppies to ensure high-quality, focused training. Puppies need to have had all necessary vaccinations prior to attending.

1:1 Private Puppy Sessions - Private sessions for owners who prefer individual guidance and focused attention or have specific goals. Sessions are 30 minutes long and are suitable for up to aged 5 months. Puppies need to have had all necessary vaccinations prior to attending.

Puppy home visits - Training support in your own home, ideal for guidance before your puppy arrives, settling in, early learning, and addressing common puppy challenges in a familiar environment. Suitable for puppies before vaccinations are complete.
Obedience and Companion Dog Training
This training is designed for owners who want a well-behaved, reliable companion dog in everyday life. It focuses on developing a strong, positive relationship between dog and owner, setting you both up for a happy, lifelong partnership.
The emphasis is on relationship-based training, helping owners better understand their dog, its development, and learning needs. Training builds steadiness, good manners, and motivation, encouraging both dog and handler to enjoy training and spending time together.
Training is suitable for all breeds, including gundog breeds. This training provides a natural progression from puppy training for owners who want a reliable, well-mannered companion dog but choose not to continue with pet gundog lessons.

These courses focus on practical, real-world obedience, helping dogs develop good manners, self-control, and responsiveness in a variety of situations. Should clients wish to take part, there is the option to undertake as assessment at each level.

Behaviour Consultation
For owners who require behaviour support at home, or who need help in a specific environment, I offer personalised behaviour consultations in your own home, tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Behaviour consultations are suitable for dogs of all breeds and ages. I provide calm, supportive guidance to help owners manage and improve everyday training and behaviour challenges in a practical and achievable way.
